Creating Sub-Contracts

 

A main contractor may choose to sub-contract another individual or company to perform part of the work on a project on their behalf. The main contractor retains overall responsibility for timely delivery and fulfilment of the original contract but the sub-contractor must be aware of their need to complete in a timely fashion.

 

To do this, the wording of the main contract must be reflected in the sub-contract. A main contractor can choose to use a standard form sub-contract to avoid drafting from scratch or make up a bespoke contract for the particular job.
